Why 'The Firelight Foundation'?
The name 'Firelight' is based on the famous quote of WB Yeats, "Education is not filling a bucket but lighting a fire".
It has the idea of :
- the family learning together around the home fires
- the spark of inspiration and learning new things
- kindling the desire for learning through teaching and inspiration
What is the Foundation?
The Foundation is an organisation run by group of individuals who feel passionately about providing opportunities for homeschooling parents to grow & learn, in turn, helping their own children to develop a lifelong thirst for learning.
What does the Foundation do?
The foundation aims to light the fire of inspiration amongst home educating families by bringing quality international speakers to NZ shores. The Firelight Foundation is not a profit-making enterprise but exists solely to support and encourage the homeschooling community.
