Volumes six and seven concentrate primarily on Greek and Latin prefixes and suffixes and how they hook onto base words. Sequential Spelling teaches students to recognize patterns of spelling based on the rules of the English language, but without all the complicated explanations. Some of the word families covered: -ot, -try, -ify, -psycho-, -ize,- ior. Representative words your children can expect to learn: bellowing, spirituality, stratagems, unnecessarily, queasiest.

The AVKO spelling programme was written by a dyslexic for dyslexics and those who have had limited success with other spelling programmes. AVKO stands for Auditory, visual, kinaesthetic and oral.
